MARILYN
Adopted October 26, 2020
Under California law abandoning an animal is a crime. The AALOC cameras recorded as a small dark-haired woman approached the gate and then lowered her frightened terrier to the ground inside the kennel by grabbing on to its legs. She let go and never looked back. The poor little dog sat at the fence watching her leave and then for thirty minutes more before an AALOC staff member found her whining at the fence. What seemed at the time like an unconscionable act now appears to be the best thing Marilyn’s previous owner ever did for this little black and white sweetheart.
Marilyn now has a fabulous new family and forever home with Vicki, Larry and their son Tyler. After losing their dog Honey, it took this family a year to find a replacement. Something about Marilyn just touched their hearts and they knew she was the one. We know what a wonderful companion Marilyn will be and couldn’t be more pleased Vicki, Larry and Tyler will love Marilyn for the rest of her life. Thank you so much for taking Marilyn home!
ABBOTT
Adopted October 22, 2020
Everyone has suffered in 2020 in one way or another because of the pandemic. One woman became homeless and began living in her car – along with her six small dogs, including Abbott, a darling terrier mix. The vehicle did not have air conditioning during the hottest part of the year in Southern California and it was more and more difficult to keep them healthy and fed. Realizing the danger the dogs were in, and with great sadness, she surrendered the dogs to AALOC.
Abbott’s life has certainly turned a corner and he now has an amazing new home and family. Jo Ann and her son chose Abbott as their new companion and are the ideal family for this little guy. Abbott instantly knew he was a lucky dog the minute he walked into Jo Ann’s house and made himself quite at home in her lap and checking out his new “digs.” With imaginary hearts filling the air, Abbott bonded instantly with Jo Ann.
All of the animals who come to AALOC have sad stories when they arrive. We feel so fortunate when someone steps forward and validates the importance of each one by adopting them. Thank you Jo Ann for selecting Abbott from all the available dogs to be a part of your home and your heart.
BRIANNA
Adopted October 15, 2020
Everyone has suffered in 2020 in one way or another because of the pandemic. One woman became homeless and begin living in her car – along with her six small dogs, including Brianna, a long-haired Chihuahua charmer. The vehicle did not have air conditioning during the hottest part of the year in Southern California and it was more and more difficult to keep them healthy and fed. Realizing the danger the dogs were in, and with great sadness, she surrendered the dogs to AALOC.
Angela and Dennis stepped forward to adopt our sweet little Brianna. When she first arrived Brianna was a bit unsure about her new surroundings but new dog dad Dennis knew just what to do: fry up a pan of bacon and share little bits with his new pal. He instantly won a new best friend and from that moment on Brianna has followed Dennis around the house. By the time Angela arrived home from work that day Brianna was very happy to sit in Angela’s lap and enjoy all the snuggles. Now with a comfy new recliner that Brianna has claimed as her own she feels right at home with this very lovely couple.
The team at AALOC loves and cares deeply about all the animals that come to stay at the kennel. We very much appreciate the wonderful individuals who provide them with forever homes. Thank you so much Angela and Dennis for adopting little Brianna!
COSTELLO
Adopted October 10, 2020
Everyone has suffered in 2020 in one way or another because of the pandemic. One woman became homeless and began living in her car – along with her six small dogs, including the cute little imp Costello. The vehicle did not have air conditioning during the hottest part of the year in Southern California and it was more and more difficult to keep them healthy and fed. Realizing the danger the dogs were in, and with great sadness, she surrendered the dogs to AALOC.
Well Costello's luck and life has turned around for sure! Mary Ann and her daughter Maddy have taken Sailor (as Costello was renamed) into their home and given him their hearts. Sailor will be living in a neighborhood that used to be one of MGM's studio backlots, which has lots of grass and plenty of memories. We know that Mary Ann and Maddy will provide Sailor with a movie star's life and plenty of new wonderful memories too.
Thank you Mary Ann and Maddy for letting little Sailor steal your hearts! We wish you all a very happy ending and a long life together.
