SKIPPY
Adopted September 19, 2020
Blessings come in all forms. Skippy’s blessing arrived when Dana and Savanah decided he was the dog for them.
A homeless couple originally owned Skippy but decided to surrender this beautiful little guy in the hopes that he would get a better home. Skippy’s dream home just arrived and based on the photos and texts we’ve received he will be very, very loved every day of his life. With a bunch of new toys, a brand new dog bed and bushels full of love we know Dana and Savanah will provide Skippy with the life his original owners wanted him to have.
One day after Skippy arrived at Dana and Savanah’s house we received this text: “Hi there, Skippy’s doing really good. He met the neighbor dog and was super good. He's loving my mom’s dog who we've been with since last night. He's super attached already and slept on my pillow through the whole night.”
Skippy really needed a good home for the rest of his life. Thank you Dana and Savanah for recognizing what a great dog he is and giving him your hearts!
OLIVER
Adopted September 8, 2020
Oliver, as he was named, was found as a stray and may have been previously owned by a homeless individual. A young shih tzu with black and white fur, Oliver is super cute and very playful. We are so grateful to have found him a new forever home within weeks of coming to AALOC for safekeeping.
Brandy took one look at Oliver and knew he was the one! Based on the photos taken when he arrived at Brandy’s home we know Oliver was instantly smitten as well. We are so happy for Oliver and thankful to Brandy for opening her heart to this little fluff ball of energy and fun!
RIESLING
Adopted September 10, 2020
This little guy named Riesling – or Reese for short – was all alone at only five weeks old. A foster family stepped up and helped him grow strong and into one of the sweetest kittens ever. As it happens sometimes, fosters Marilla and Gillette have decided they just can’t part with Reese and they have formally adopted him forever.
Reese will be busy playing with the two other cats in the family, Maguira and Kirov. Reese can also entertain himself by playing with Moonshine, Marilla and Gillette's German Shephard. Between Marilla and Gillette, and all the other pets in the family, Reese will always have someone to snuggle up to. Talk about getting a great home after such a rough start to life!
Thank you Marilla and Gillette for taking in this adorable mackerel tabby when he needed help the most, and then falling in love with Riesling and providing him with the safety, security and love of a forever home. We wish you all a very happy life together!
LOUIE
Adopted July 26, 2020
One of the smallest full-grown dogs ever brought to the kennel, Louie was spotted roaming a motel parking lot for days before a kind gentleman was able to capture him and bring him to AALOC. Luck, or a divine angel must have been looking out for him. With his very small size, only about six pounds, he could have easily been run over by a car, eaten by a coyote, or injured or killed in any number of ways.
This little apple head Chihuahua must have had an interesting past. He was so timid it took a long time before he began trusting the AALOC team and the volunteers who came to walk dogs. It took some time before he was comfortable getting harnessed for his walk or picked up for a cuddle. He was very skittish when walking, reacting fearfully to the traffic noise along any busy street. With all this in mind we are so lucky to have found Yuki and Bryan, Louie’s new owners. Calm and patient, they were willing to put the necessary time into building a strong relationship with Louie. In return we know they will have a loyal canine friend for life.
It took several weeks but Yuki and Bryan report: "Louie is very comfortable in our home, and acts like a guard dog, barking when his radar ears pick up a noise. Louie is a very quick learner and now obeys the commands of sit and wait. He loves his toys, which are all over the house, and likes to chase a ball. He follows us around the house and is very nosey, getting into all kinds of stuff. We still need to make him more comfortable with getting picked up and walking outdoors, but we are so happy to have Louie. He's a wonderful dog."
Happy Tails like this one – for a dog that had a few special needs – are what makes all the work worthwhile. Thank you Yuki and Bryan for making Louie a part of your life!
