ABOUT CAPTAIN
Captain's story could have been much sadder. He was held in a San Bernadino shelter waiting for a new forever home but was never allowed to be seen by the public. He was in the quarantine building because he was afraid to come to the front of his kennel with animal control officers. Volunteers call this building "death row" and describe it as a horrible location where food is thrown into the cages and the animals receive no care. Captain was on the euthanasia list but was spared when the San Bernardino shelter ran out of time euthanizing that day. Fortunately a volunteer from AALOC was able to transfer Captain to the safety of our humane center. We look forward to finding Captain the very best new home and a life filled with love and care.
Captain is a shepherd mix weighing in at about 60 pounds. He has a very calm, very sweet temperament but is extremely timid. With a little time and a little patience Captain does come out of his shell but for this reason we recommend a home without any children.
Please complete an application to adopt Captain. Once your application is reviewed and approved, we will contact you to make an appointment to visit us at AALOC to meet Captain and get to know him a bit. For more information on adoption policies click here to view our dog adoption requirements.
Adoption donation of $165 per dog includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, and a microchip. Applications require a veterinary reference and home visit. We adopt to residents of Orange County, CA and surrounding areas. Please note: For families with children, we require children to be 10 years of age or older, although exceptions are made depending on the circumstances.
