ABOUT SHIRLEY
Carlie, a young feline who was in the family way, knew she would be giving birth to her litter of kittens soon. So, she looked for a safe place and found one on the back patio of a home. She delivered her five kittens, two girls and three boys, and then her luck got even better. Carlie and her new family were accepted at AALOC, where they all would be cared for without any concern about finding food or being safe. Named after the Happy Days TV show, the girls are called Shirley and Joanie, and the boys Richie, Chachi and of course, Fonzy.
Shirley is a lovely brown mackerel tabby with golden eyes. Have you ever heard of a cat that likes to nuzzle you? Well, that would be Shirley. She wants to be picked up and held and if you don’t comply quickly enough Shirley will climb up you to make sure she has your attention. She is exceptionally affectionate and loves to be picked up and lay in your arms.
In general mackerel tabbies are known to be adventurous and fun to own. They are very playful and like to have a box of toys from which to choose. They can be “inspectors,” and like to be included in anything that is happening in the house and explore their domains. Many mackerel tabby owners feel mackerel tabbies are extremely intelligent and some say mackerel tabbies are more dog than cat, since they will readily follow you around, play fetch and like to snuggle.
Please submit an application to adopt Shirley and perhaps one of her siblings too. Once your application is reviewed and approved we will contact you to make an appointment to visit us at AALOC to meet Shirley and get to know her a bit.
