DOROTHY
Someone knocked on our door and said they found a kitten under a car who looked deceased. Our employee went with them to see the kitten and found her barely moving and covered in fleas. The AALOC team rushed her to Animal Hospital of Huntington Beach and the vets said her red blood cell levels were 8%. Normal levels range from 30-50% which meant she was extremely anemic. Most animals would not be alive; she really was on death’s door. A volunteer then transferred her to VCA Orange County Veterinary Specialists for a blood transfusion and she received a whole pint of blood, bringing her values us considerably. Her fecal tests came back negative and she regained her strength with a good appetite.
Dorothy (as she was named) is now doing wonderful! The staff reports she is so very friendly and affectionate. Please apply to adopt Dorothy. Once your application is reviewed and approved we will contact you to make an appointment to visit us at AALOC to meet Dorothy and get to know her a bit.
