Please Help! AALOC Is In Serious Financial Trouble!

This note is incredibly difficult to write because the crisis AALOC is facing is heartbreaking. Outstanding vet bills are over $200,000 and animals cannot be helped until this is paid.

Our no-kill organization has saved abused and abandoned animals in need for over 52 years, but we are facing the inevitable closing of our programs without a miracle. So often we are told that we are the only group that provided help when help was needed by shelters, by owners, by veterinarians, and by Good Samaritans who called dozens of organizations for help and only got one call back - from AALOC. AALOC opens our heart and soul to the most vulnerable, discarded, battered, the hopeless animals and brings hope back.

This crisis started in October 2024 when AALOC was notified of a generous bequest from a longtime supporter and animal lover who had passed away and left a considerable brokerage account to AALOC. We will forever be grateful to Anita for her thoughtful planning for animals to be helped for years to come. Required paperwork was completed and almost five months later, we expected to receive $1.6 million and to pay the bills we had been accumulating. During these five months, we were asked by ER vets, shelters and pet owners in need to help with some very sad cases, and we helped beyond our past efforts, because AALOC had been blessed with this donation and could be a blessing to others.

Our long trusting relationships with our veterinarians allowed us to keep helping animals while waiting for the funds. The funds that came were nowhere near what we had been told. The brokerage made excuses, stating “mistakes” and has refused to allow AALOC to review account statements and the Beneficiary Designation forms that beneficiaries are legally entitled to. AALOC does not have the funds to pursue legal steps to secure the information the brokerage firm has refused to release, confirming the amount Anita meant for our animals.

The nightmare is that AALOC is left with over $200,000 in outstanding bills which we must pay or close our programs. There is no other way to get through this without your help. There is intense pressure to pay up or be cut off by vets, all of whom have been exceedingly kind and flexible, but they have bills to pay too. If we are cut off, we know animals will suffer and die.The emotional pressure is mind blowing. The blessing is that so many lives were saved. Click here to read a few of these stories.
